Renting Kayaks for Your Cape Coral Airbnb or VRBO Stay

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Quick answer: Yes, you can rent kayaks for a Cape Coral Airbnb or VRBO. Grab N Go Kayaks delivers to waterfront rentals with a private dock or seawall, free in Cape Coral, and picks the kayaks up when you leave. Check dock access and overnight storage with your host first, then text us the address, dates and kayak choice.

Cape Coral has over 400 miles of navigable waterways, according to the City of Cape Coral, and a big share of the vacation rentals here sit right on them. If you booked an Airbnb in Cape Coral with a dock out back, the water is already at your door. The only thing missing is a kayak.

When I deliver to a canal home in southwest Cape, the guests are usually standing on the dock when I pull up, looking at the water and wondering how to get on it. No roof rack, no ramp, no drive to a storefront. We set the kayaks at the dock, hand over paddles and vests, and they are paddling in minutes.

This guide is for the guest. It covers what to check before you book, what to send us, how delivery and pickup work, and how to keep the kayaks safe. If you are ready to book, the vacation rental kayak delivery page has the details in one place.

Why rent kayaks for a vacation rental

Guests ask us three things: is it worth it, is it easy, and will it fit the dock.

It is worth it. A residential canal is gentle beginner water. You can paddle at your own pace straight from the property and see mangroves, herons, ospreys and the occasional manatee or dolphin, without loading a car.

It is easy. That is the point of kayaks delivered to a vacation rental. Paddles, life vests, a dry bag and a safety whistle come with every kayak, and pickup is built into the price.

It fits. A single or tandem kayak needs a patch of dock or lawn and something to tie to. It does not need a boat slip.

A single kayak is $45 for a day, $80 for two days and $120 for 3 to 7 days. A tandem is $60, $100 and $180. Taxes are included and there is a cash discount. The full breakdown is in our Cape Coral kayak rental price guide.

The pre-booking checklist

Spend five minutes on the listing and send your host a short message. Most guests skip this, and it is what makes delivery day easy.

What to check Why it matters What to ask your host
Private dock or seawall This is where you launch. A private dock or seawall is the most convenient setup. “Can guests use the dock or seawall behind the house?”
Gulf access or freshwater canal Changes where you can paddle, plus boat traffic and wind. “Is this a Gulf access canal or a freshwater canal?”
Ladder and dock height A low dock is an easy slide in. A high seawall is easier with a ladder. “How high is the dock above the water, and is there a ladder?”
Overnight storage The kayak needs an agreed, safe spot between paddles. “Where can the kayaks stay overnight?”
Property rules Rentals can set their own rules about docks, seawalls, garages and equipment. “Any rules about outside equipment?”

Gulf access or freshwater

A Gulf access canal connects through other canals and channels toward the Caloosahatchee River and open water, so expect more boat wakes and some tidal movement. A freshwater canal is a closed system, usually calmer, with fewer boats. Both paddle well. They are just different days on the water. Our guide to Cape Coral canals for kayakers explains how to tell which one you have and where it goes.

Dock, seawall and ladder

A dock gives you a flat surface to sit on while you get in. A seawall is a vertical wall with a flat top, so entry is more of a step and sit. If your listing photos show a high seawall with no ladder, read how to get in and out of a kayak from a dock or seawall before you arrive, and text us a photo of the setup.

Where the kayaks sleep

We deliver to waterfront homes, Airbnbs, VRBOs and vacation homes with a private dock or seawall, plus condos with suitable secure storage. Hotels are case by case. Ask your host which spot they prefer (tied at the dock, up on the lawn, under the lanai) and tell us when you book.

A host message you can copy

Hi! We would like to have two kayaks delivered by a local rental company during our stay. Is it okay to use the dock behind the house, and where would you like the kayaks kept overnight? Also, is the canal Gulf access or freshwater? Thanks!

Hosts decide what is allowed on their own dock, so get the answer in writing before delivery day.

What to send us

Use the online rental request form on our homepage, or call or text (605) 760-4448. Send us:

  • The property address, with the unit number for a condo.
  • Your dates: arrival, check-out, and how many days you want the kayaks.
  • Kayak choice and quantity. A single for one paddler, a tandem for two, or a fishing or pedal kayak. Not sure? Our guide to choosing a kayak helps.
  • Dock details: dock or seawall, ladder or not, and where the kayaks will stay overnight.
  • Who is paddling, including kids’ ages. Individual paddlers are generally 250 lb or less, and capacity varies by kayak.

Book ahead for weekends and busy season. Last-minute availability is sometimes possible, so text us. The whole process is laid out in how to book a kayak rental in Cape Coral.

Staying in Fort Myers instead? Delivery is free to most Fort Myers addresses (see Fort Myers kayak rentals). Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers Beach carry a $60 delivery fee.

Delivery day

We confirm timing by text once you book. If you have a check-in constraint, tell us and we will work with it. When we arrive:

  1. We carry the kayaks to the dock or the spot you agreed on with your host.
  2. We hand over paddles, life vests, a dry bag and a safety whistle. Pedal kayaks come with the pedal drive.
  3. We go over how to get in from your dock and where to tie up.
  4. You pay by major credit card, cash or Venmo, at delivery or pickup. There is a cash discount.

Then you paddle. If you are new to it, the first-time kayaker’s guide to renting in Cape Coral is worth a read the night before.

Keeping kayaks secure and tied up

You are using equipment on someone else’s property. A little care keeps you and your host happy.

  • Tie the bow to a dock cleat. Canal water moves with tides and boat wakes, and a loose kayak drifts.
  • Pull it out overnight when you can. If wind is forecast, get the kayaks clear of the water.
  • Keep paddles and vests together out of the rain, in the lanai or garage if your host allows it.
  • Keep phones and keys out of the dry bag unless you are paddling with them.

Follow your host’s rules about docks and storage. Vacation rentals can have their own.

Storms and afternoon weather

In summer, southwest Florida mornings tend to be calm and clear, and afternoon thunderstorms build later. The National Weather Service rule is short: when thunder roars, go indoors. So paddle in the morning, get off the water at the first thunder, and pull the kayaks onto the dock or lawn.

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, with a peak around September 10, according to the National Hurricane Center. If a named storm threatens your dates, text us early. Our guide to wind, tides and weather in Cape Coral covers reading the water, and the kayak safety guide covers the rest.

Kids and life vests

Life vests are included. Wear them, buckled, any time the kayak is in the water. Florida law says children under six must wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket on a vessel under 26 feet that is underway. Details are in our Florida kayak laws guide.

  • Tell us the kids’ ages and sizes when you book so we can confirm vests that fit.
  • Put small children in a tandem with an adult, not alone in a single.
  • Stay near the dock on a first paddle and let the kids set the pace.

More ideas are in kayaking with kids in Cape Coral, and the tandem kayak page has the details on the double.

Check-out day and pickup

Pickup is included. When your rental period ends, we come back and collect the kayaks from the agreed pickup location.

We do not post a fixed pickup window, because timing depends on your check-out time and our route. Text us the day before with your departure time and we will coordinate. A few habits make pickup smooth:

  • Put the paddles, vests, dry bag and whistle together at the pickup spot.
  • Leave the kayaks where we agreed, tied off or up on the dock.
  • Check the dock for sunglasses, towels and chargers.

Staying a week? The 3 to 7 day price is one flat rate, so a full week costs the same as three days. See weekly kayak rentals.

When the host already has kayaks

Some Cape Coral hosts leave a kayak or paddleboard on the dock. Ask in your first message. Then check four things before you skip a rental:

  • Count and type. Two single kayaks do not help a family of five, or a couple who wants a tandem.
  • Gear. Are there paddles and enough life vests in the right sizes, in good shape?
  • Fit. Host kayaks are usually basic recreational boats. A pedal or fishing kayak is a different outing.
  • House rules. Some hosts prefer guests use their equipment, others prefer a rental company. Ask.

If the host’s gear covers your group, use it. If not, a delivered rental fills the gap. Hosts reading this can see our guide to kayaks as a vacation rental amenity.

Where to paddle from your dock

You do not need to go far. A canal paddle from your own dock is the easiest first day. For more options, see the best places to kayak in Cape Coral and our free things to do page. If you spot a manatee, keep your distance and read the FWC manatee page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a kayak for my Airbnb in Cape Coral?

Yes. Grab N Go Kayaks delivers single, tandem, fishing and pedal kayaks to Airbnbs, VRBOs and vacation homes with a private dock or seawall. Delivery is free in Cape Coral and most of Fort Myers, and pickup is included. Send us the address, dates and kayak choice.

Do I need a dock to rent a kayak for my vacation rental?

A private dock or seawall is the most convenient setup, but the real requirement is a safe place for the kayak during your rental. Condos can work with suitable secure storage. Without waterfront access, you would need safe transport to another launch, and that is your responsibility.

How much does a kayak rental cost for an Airbnb stay?

A single kayak is $45 for one day, $80 for two days and $120 for 3 to 7 days. A tandem is $60, $100 and $180. The 3 to 7 day tier is one flat price. Taxes are included, delivery and pickup are free in Cape Coral, and there is a cash discount.

What should I ask my Airbnb host before booking a kayak?

Ask if you may use the dock or seawall, if the canal is Gulf access or freshwater, if there is a ladder, and where the kayaks can stay overnight. Also ask about any rules on outside equipment. Pass the answers to us when you book.

Are life vests included with the rental?

Yes. Paddles, life vests, a dry bag and a safety whistle come with every kayak. Florida law requires children under six to wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket on a vessel under 26 feet that is underway. Tell us the kids’ ages and sizes when you book so we can confirm what fits.

What time will you pick up the kayaks on check-out day?

We do not set a fixed pickup window. Pickup is included, and we coordinate the time by text based on your check-out and our route. Message us the day before with your departure time and the pickup spot, and we will confirm.

What happens if a storm comes during my stay?

Get off the water at the first thunder and tie the kayaks down or pull them onto the dock or lawn. Summer storms usually build in the afternoon, so paddle in the morning. If a named storm is forecast, text us early to talk through timing.

Can I take the kayak to another launch?

Yes, if you can transport it safely, for example with a roof rack or a truck. We do not deliver to public parks or boat ramps, so your rental property is where we drop off and pick up. Have the right straps and a plan before you load it.

Should I rent kayaks or use the ones my host provides?

If your host has enough kayaks in good condition, with paddles and the right life vests, use them. If you need more kayaks, a tandem, a pedal kayak or a fishing setup, or the host has nothing, a delivered rental is easier and takes no hauling.

Put kayaks on your dock for the whole stay

Tell us your address, dates and which kayak you want. We deliver free in Cape Coral and most of Fort Myers, bring paddles, life vests, a dry bag and a whistle, and pick up when you check out. We have a 5-star Google rating and we plan to keep it.
